Best cream for pigmentation in Pakistan: what to buy and what to skip
Most people shopping for a pigmentation cream buy the format before they know what they are treating. Pigmentation is not one condition. Sun spots, post-acne marks and melasma respond to very different things, and only some of them respond to a cream at all. The step that carries the actives is usually a serum. The cream's job is to hold the barrier together while the serum works.

Sun spots are flat, brown and appear where light hits: forehead, cheekbones, nose, hands. Post-acne marks sit exactly where a spot was. Melasma is a larger symmetrical patch, usually across both cheeks or the upper lip, and it is the stubborn one.
This single question decides whether a cream is worth buying. Sun spots and post-acne marks fade well with topicals. Melasma often improves and then returns with sun, heat or hormonal change, so it is managed rather than cured. Buying a cream that promises to clear melasma in a month is buying a disappointment.
Why the cream format usually underperforms
Pigmentation actives have to reach the layer where pigment is being made. A serum is a thin, high-concentration base built to carry them there. A cream is a heavier emulsion built to sit on top and hold moisture in.
That is why so many people here conclude pigmentation products do not work. They bought the right ingredient in the wrong vehicle, used it for six weeks and saw nothing. The exception is a night cream carrying a retinoid, which is a genuine treatment step rather than a moisturiser with a claim on the box.
The ingredients that are actually doing the work
Vitamin C in the morning, niacinamide at any time, a retinoid at night, and alpha arbutin as a support ingredient. Gentle exfoliation with glycolic acid helps the marks that sit near the surface.
Everything else on a pigmentation label is either a supporting ingredient or marketing. If a product does not state a percentage for its main active, you have no way to judge it, and in this category that omission is common enough to treat as an answer in itself.
What a night cream can genuinely do
A retinoid night cream speeds up how fast pigmented cells are replaced. That is a real mechanism and it is the one cream format worth buying for pigmentation.
Elluvi Hydra Glow Cream is 0.3% retinol with niacinamide, alpha arbutin and hyaluronic acid, at Rs. 1,449 for 50 ml. It is a night-only product. Retinol makes skin more sun-sensitive, so using it without sunscreen the next morning actively works against the pigmentation you are treating.
About medicated and mix formula creams
Creams sold as medicated pigmentation treatments in local markets frequently contain steroids, hydroquinone or mercury. They lighten fast, then rebound worse when stopped.
The full detail on how to recognise these, what testing has found in them and what to do if you have been using one is on our whitening face wash guide. The short version: no ingredient list, no manufacturer, and results in days are three signs of the same problem.
How long it honestly takes
Eight to twelve weeks before pigmentation looks meaningfully more even, and three to six months for older or deeper marks. Nothing safe works faster than that.
Pigment sits at different depths and the deeper it sits, the slower it clears. Judge a product at twelve weeks, not at three. Photographing your face in the same light once a fortnight is more reliable than memory, because the change is gradual enough that you stop noticing it.
Sunscreen decides whether any of this works
Pigmentation is driven by UV and, for melasma, by heat and visible light too. Without daily protection you fade spots at roughly the rate you re-make them.
Sunscreen is not currently sold by Elluvi. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher from a trusted brand.
What to pay in Pakistan
A pigmentation serum with stated actives runs about Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,000. A retinoid night cream is Rs. 1,200 to Rs. 2,500. Imported equivalents sit well above that, mostly on import cost rather than formulation.
Buying the routine rather than the single product is usually cheaper. Elluvi's Pigmentation Bundle pairs the Vitamin C Serum, Hydra Glow Cream and Brightening Face Wash at 20% below buying the three separately.
The mistakes that cost people months
Stacking three pigmentation products at once, switching every few weeks, exfoliating too often, and skipping sunscreen. Irritated skin makes more pigment, not less.
Post-inflammatory pigmentation is the trap here. Aggressive treatment inflames the skin, inflammation triggers pigment, and the marks deepen. On brown skin this happens easily, which is why a slow, dull routine beats an aggressive one in this market specifically.
