How to choose
A stated percentage is the whole point
Most serums sold in Pakistan never state one, and several are not what the front of the bottle implies — a gentler retinoid ester sold under the word retinol, for example. A number you can compare is the minimum a serum owes you.
Morning and night are different jobs
Vitamin C belongs to the morning, alongside sunscreen, because that is where its antioxidant work is useful. Retinol belongs to the night. Niacinamide fits either. Running vitamin C and retinol at the same time of day is the usual cause of the irritation people blame on one of them.
One at a time, two weeks apart
Starting two actives together means you cannot tell which one is working or which one is stinging. Leave two weeks before adding the next one, and add it only once the first feels uneventful.
Which form of vitamin C, and why it matters here
Pure L-ascorbic acid is the most studied form and the least stable: it oxidises in heat and light, and a bottle that has turned orange has lost much of what you paid for.
