How to choose
Which strength for which job
10% with zinc PCA is the serum strength studied for oil and pores. 5% is enough for barrier support and tone in a product you use twice a day. In a face wash it sits on skin for under a minute, so it supports the routine rather than doing the work. Going above 10% buys irritation more often than results.
One niacinamide product is usually enough
Stacking a niacinamide serum, moisturizer and cream does not add up to three times the effect. If redness, stinging or small bumps appear, cut back to one niacinamide step. Most people do best with the serum, or the moisturizer, plus sunscreen.
Morning or night
Either. Niacinamide works alongside vitamin C in the morning and alongside retinol at night. The old warning against pairing it with vitamin C came from tests on pure powders at high heat, not finished products on skin.

For everyday tone and barrier support, a 5% niacinamide moisturizer is enough. Add a 10% serum only if oil and enlarged-looking pores are your main concern, and then keep the moisturizer for hydration.
Can I use niacinamide with retinol?
Yes. Niacinamide is often paired with retinol to make it easier to tolerate. Hydra Glow Cream already combines 0.3% retinol with 5% niacinamide and 2% alpha arbutin, for two to three nights a week to start.
Can I use niacinamide and vitamin C together?
Yes. Apply vitamin C first in the morning, then niacinamide, then moisturizer and sunscreen. If your skin flushes, use them at different times of day.
How long does niacinamide take to work?
Oil and shine usually change within two to four weeks. Uneven tone and marks take eight to twelve weeks of daily use, with sunscreen every morning.
