Niacinamide serum in Pakistan — what 10% with zinc does, and the best picks

Reviewed

5 minute read

A niacinamide serum at 10% with 1% Zinc PCA is one of the most useful daily steps for oily, combination, and humidity-stressed skin in Pakistan. It helps balance the look of oil and pores while supporting barrier comfort — and it layers cleanly under moisturiser and SPF.

Niacinamide serums in Pakistan compared

This is the one category where the Pakistani market is genuinely transparent: almost every serum states 10% niacinamide with 1% zinc, because The Ordinary set that formula as the reference and the market followed it. Percentage is therefore not the differentiator here. The zinc form is, and so is price, which spans Rs. 699 to Rs. 3,668 for the same declared actives.

Prices were read from each brand's own product page on 5 September 2026, and from Pakistani reseller listings for the imported row. Worth being straight about our own position: Elluvi is not the cheapest here and is not close. Carynt states the same 10% niacinamide and 1% Zinc PCA at Rs. 699, which is 40% below ours. What differs is what else is declared — we state a hyaluronic acid weight and percentage, they name it without one — and whether that is worth Rs. 450 is your call. The one formulation difference below that is not marketing: Oneskin uses zinc oxide rather than Zinc PCA, a different ingredient doing a different job, and an unusual choice in a water-based serum.

Who should use niacinamide

People dealing with midday shine, visible pores, uneven tone, or post-congestion marks. It suits morning and night use for most routines when introduced gradually.

Elluvi Hydra Glow Serum pairs 10% niacinamide, 1% Zinc PCA and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid — made for Pakistan’s climate, not a heavy winter cream texture.

How to use it in humid weather

Apply two to three drops after cleansing, morning and/or night, then moisturiser. In Karachi or Lahore summers, keep the rest of the routine light — you do not need heavy oils on top.

Can you pair it with vitamin C or retinol?

Yes. Use vitamin C in the morning (with SPF). Use retinol at night. Niacinamide can sit in either routine if your skin tolerates layering — introduce one active at a time if you are reactive.

The old warning that niacinamide and vitamin C cancel each other out came from research using raw ingredients at high heat, not finished formulas. In practice they coexist fine. If you still prefer to separate them, vitamin C in the morning and niacinamide at night works perfectly well.

How to use a niacinamide serum

On clean skin, apply two to three drops before moisturiser. Slightly damp skin absorbs it better than fully dry skin. It can be used once or twice daily depending on tolerance.

Less is genuinely more here. Niacinamide is water-soluble and skin can only use so much at once, so doubling the amount does not double the effect. If you get flushing or a warm tingle, you are either using too much or layering it onto skin that is already irritated by something else.

What niacinamide actually does

Niacinamide supports the skin barrier, helps regulate the look of oil production, and can improve the appearance of pore size, redness and uneven tone over several weeks. Zinc alongside it adds further support for oily, congested skin.

It is one of the better-tolerated actives, which is why it appears in so many formulas. It is also slow. Nothing visible happens in a week, and the changes people report at four to eight weeks are gradual rather than dramatic.

Niacinamide for oily and combination skin

This is where it earns its reputation. Oily and combination skin usually tolerates 10% well, and the barrier support means you can use it alongside a cleanser with acids without the routine becoming too stripping.

If your skin is oily but also feels tight, niacinamide plus a lightweight moisturiser is a better starting point than adding another oil-control product. Much of what reads as excess oil is a barrier compensating for being over-cleansed.

Niacinamide serum price in Pakistan and what to check

Prices range widely for what is a relatively inexpensive ingredient. What matters is the stated percentage, whether supporting ingredients are listed, and whether the seller is authorised. Elluvi Hydra Glow Serum is Rs. 1,149 for 30 ml at 10% niacinamide with zinc PCA and hyaluronic acid.

Be careful with unusually cheap serums from unofficial marketplace sellers. Niacinamide is cheap to include, so a low price is not itself a red flag, but no stated percentage usually is.

FAQs

Many beginners tolerate 10% well, but reactive skin should patch-test and start once daily. Elluvi Hydra Glow Serum includes zinc and hyaluronic acid for a more balanced feel.

Serums in Pakistan

One serum per concern, each at a stated percentage. Niacinamide for oil, congestion and uneven tone. Vitamin C in the morning for dullness and dark spots. Retinol at night, for people who already use it, for fine lines, texture and uneven tone. Buying a second serum for a concern already covered is the most common way to spend more and see less.
