Best face wash for sensitive skin in Pakistan
There is an important distinction hidden in this search. Genuinely sensitive skin is a lifelong reactivity, often with rosacea or eczema behind it. Sensitised skin is a barrier damaged by over-cleansing, over-exfoliating or a fairness cream, and it recovers in weeks. Most people searching this term have the second kind, which is good news. This page covers what to look for in a cleanser, what triggers reactions in this market, and how to tell the two apart.
Elluvi's only face wash contains glycolic acid 5%, which is the wrong cleanser for reactive skin. Buy a gentle one from the comparison below. What we make for sensitive skin is the barrier step that follows it.

Sensitive versus sensitised
Sensitive skin reacts to many things, consistently, over years, and often runs alongside eczema, rosacea or allergy. Sensitised skin became reactive recently because something damaged the barrier — and it settles within four to eight weeks of gentle care.
The practical difference: if your skin has become reactive in the last few months, look at what changed. New acid, new retinol, a fairness cream, a new cleanser, or three new products at once are the usual causes here.
What to look for in a cleanser
Low foam, a short ingredient list, no added fragrance, no essential oils, no denatured alcohol, and a mild surfactant such as coco-glucoside or cocamidopropyl betaine. Cream and milk textures over foams.
Fragrance-free is different from unscented — unscented products sometimes contain a masking fragrance. Look for the absence of parfum, fragrance and named essential oils in the list rather than the word on the front.
| Feature | Why it matters | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Fragrance, listed as parfum | The most common avoidable irritant in this category | Rule it out first, before changing anything else |
| Essential oils | Natural, and among the more reactive ingredients on a sensitive face | Treat the same as fragrance |
| Foam level | High foam usually means a stronger surfactant system | Choose low-foam gels, creams or milks |
| Acids in the wash | Short contact, small benefit, real risk of stinging | Skip while skin is reactive |
| Water temperature | Free to change and often the actual cause | Lukewarm, and pat rather than rub |
| Hypoallergenic on the front | Not a regulated claim in this market | Read the ingredient list instead, where one exists |
The triggers that are specific to this market
Unlabelled fairness and medicated creams containing steroids are the single largest cause of newly sensitised skin in Pakistan. Beyond those: menthol, camphor, high-alcohol toners, walnut scrubs and daily acid use.
Steroid-damaged skin presents as redness, visible capillaries, burning with almost every product, and a rebound flare whenever the cream is stopped. It needs a doctor, not a gentler face wash, and it does improve with proper management.
The reset routine
For four weeks: a gentle cleanser once daily in the evening, a plain moisturiser twice daily, and sunscreen. No acids, no retinol, no vitamin C, no scrubs, no masks. Then reintroduce one product at a time.
This feels like doing nothing, and it is the fastest route back. A sensitised barrier cannot evaluate new products fairly, so adding a gentler active during the reset only muddies the diagnosis.
How to patch test properly
Apply a small amount to the same discreet spot on the jawline once daily for two to three days before using it on the face. Test one product at a time.
Apply a small amount to a discreet area of the jawline once daily for 2–3 days. Stop if persistent redness, itching or irritation occurs.
Water, towels and the physical side
Lukewarm water, not hot. Pat dry with a clean towel rather than rubbing, and use a separate face towel washed often. Hard water leaves a residue that irritates a reactive barrier.
These sound trivial next to ingredient choices and are not. A rough shared towel and a hot shower undo a well-chosen cleanser twice a day, every day.
What Elluvi sells, and what to skip
Hydrating Moisturiser at Rs. 1,249 for 120 ml is the product for a reset — 5% niacinamide, 1% hyaluronic acid, ceramides NP and EOP and aloe vera, no added fragrance in the actives list.
Brightening Face Wash contains 5% glycolic acid and Hydra Glow Cream contains 0.3% retinol. Neither belongs in a reset routine for sensitised skin. Introduce them, one at a time, only once skin has been comfortable for several weeks.
When it is a medical problem
Persistent redness across the cheeks and nose, visible capillaries, flushing with heat or spice, scaly patches at the eyebrows and hairline, or skin that burns with everything including water. Those are rosacea, seborrhoeic dermatitis or steroid damage and need a dermatologist.
A cosmetic routine can support treatment for all three, but it cannot replace it, and months spent trying gentler face washes is time the underlying condition uses to get worse.
