Hyaluronic acid serums in Pakistan sell anywhere from Rs. 400 to over Rs. 5,000, and the spread has very little to do with how much hyaluronic acid is in the bottle. It is used at fractions of a percent, it is inexpensive, and above roughly 2% a formula turns tacky rather than more effective. What actually varies is molecular weight, the rest of the formula, and whether the product was imported. This page covers all three, plus the case for skipping the serum entirely.

Rs. 400 to Rs. 800 buys a basic hyaluronic acid in water and glycerin. Rs. 900 to Rs. 2,000 buys multiple molecular weights and supporting ingredients. Above Rs. 3,000 is imported, and the formula is rarely different.
This is the category with the widest gap between what a formula costs to make and what it sells for, because the ingredient is cheap, the texture feels immediately impressive and the results are easy to attribute to it.
Percentage is the wrong number to compare
Hyaluronic acid is used at roughly 0.1% to 2%. Above that a serum becomes sticky and no more hydrating. A brand advertising a high percentage is advertising texture, not efficacy.
Compare molecular weight instead. High molecular weight sits on the surface and holds water there; low molecular weight penetrates further and gives a plumper feel. A serum using several weights does more than one using a large amount of a single weight.
What actually justifies a higher price
Multiple molecular weights, a stable and well-preserved base, opaque packaging, and supporting ingredients such as niacinamide, panthenol or ceramides that do something hyaluronic acid cannot.
Hyaluronic acid attracts water. It does not stop it leaving. Any serum priced as a premium hydration product that contains no lipid or occlusive support is selling you half of a solution.
The dry-air problem that costs people money
In a dry northern Pakistani winter, a hyaluronic acid serum applied to a dry face with nothing over it pulls water out of your skin. Applied to damp skin and sealed within a minute, it works as intended.
A large share of the people who conclude an expensive hyaluronic acid serum did nothing were using it correctly for Karachi and incorrectly for Islamabad. The technique costs nothing and changes the result more than the price tier does.
Cost per day, and bottle size
A 30 ml serum used once daily lasts about two months. Convert everything to cost per millilitre before comparing — a 15 ml bottle at Rs. 800 is more expensive per use than a 30 ml at Rs. 1,149.
Serums are the category where small bottles hide price most effectively, because 15 ml and 30 ml look similar on a shelf and differ by half in cost per use.
When a moisturiser is the better purchase
If you can buy one product, buy a moisturiser containing both humectants and ceramides rather than a standalone hyaluronic acid serum. It does the attracting and the sealing in one step.
This is the honest answer for most budgets in this market. A hyaluronic acid serum is a good addition to a routine that already has a sealing moisturiser, and a poor substitute for one.

How to check a bottle before buying
Full INCI list, batch number, manufacture or expiry date, period-after-opening symbol, and opaque or airless packaging. A price far below every other seller usually means grey stock or a counterfeit.
Apply a small amount to a discreet area of the jawline once daily for 2–3 days. Stop if persistent redness, itching or irritation occurs.
