Elluvi

Best face cream in Pakistan: which one, and for which half of the day

A face cream is not one product category. A day cream is built to sit under sunscreen without pilling and to survive humidity. A night cream is built to carry an active and to stay put for eight hours. Buying one cream to do both is the most common and most expensive mistake in this search, because the one that works at night is usually too heavy for a Karachi morning.

Elluvi sells two, and they are not alternatives to each other: the 120 ml Hydrating Moisturiser is the daily one at Rs. 1,249, and Hydra Glow Cream is the night one at Rs. 1,449 and carries retinol.

Day cream and night cream, side by side

A day cream is lighter, absorbs fast, and has to layer under sunscreen. A night cream is richer, is allowed to stay tacky, and is where any active belongs. If you buy one cream, buy the day one and add the night one later — skipping the daily step is what makes skin worse, and skipping the night active only makes it slower.

The table below is about jobs rather than brands. Match the row to when you would use it, then check the price per millilitre, because the two formats are almost never sold in the same size and comparing sticker prices tells you nothing.

What a face cream actually costs in Pakistan

Face creams sold here run from about Rs. 40 to about Rs. 8,000, and the range is not a quality ladder. Compare price per millilitre and whether the actives carry a percentage; a cheap cream is usually cheap because there is nothing in it worth pricing.

Prices were read from each brand's own online store on 11 September 2026. Imported products have no Pakistani store, so those rows are a reseller's listing read the same day and are labelled as such. Where a seller does not state a size or an active's percentage, that is recorded as not stated rather than guessed at — the absence is the useful part, because you cannot compare a dose that nobody publishes.

Buy on price per millilitre, not on price

A 50 ml jar at Rs. 3,299 is Rs. 66 per millilitre. A 120 ml bottle at Rs. 1,249 is Rs. 10. Face cream is a step you use twice a day on face and neck, so the smaller jar runs out first and costs more over a year despite the lower sticker price.

This is the single calculation that changes what people buy, and almost no shelf in Pakistan shows it. Divide price by millilitres before you compare anything else. The exception is a night cream carrying an active, where you use a pea-sized amount two or three nights a week — a 50 ml jar of that lasts months and the per-millilitre figure matters less.

Which cream for which skin

Oily skin in this climate wants a gel or light lotion in the morning and can still use a richer cream at night. Dry skin wants emollients in both. Combination skin usually needs one cream and a heavier layer only on the dry areas, not two products.

Skin type in Pakistan is seasonal more than it is fixed. The same face that needs a gel in July needs a cream in January, and people who buy for their summer skin in December end up with a product that stops suiting them in April. Buy for the season you are in, in a size you will finish inside it.

Humidity changes what absorbs

In high humidity a rich cream sits on the surface rather than sinking in, which reads as greasiness and gets blamed on the formula. The same cream behaves normally in a dry, air-conditioned room. The format has to match the air, not the label on the jar.

This is also why air conditioning matters more than weather for dry skin here. An office at 22 degrees with the compressor running pulls water out of skin all day, and someone who lives in that will need a richer cream in July than a person who does not.

Face cream and sunscreen

Cream first, let it settle for a minute, then sunscreen. Applied the other way round, or immediately on top of each other, is how both pill into little rolls. Nothing about the cream is at fault when that happens — the order and the wait are.

If you only add one thing to a routine in Pakistan, add sunscreen rather than a better cream. Most of the tone and texture complaints that bring people to this search are sun-driven, and no cream outperforms the thing that stops the damage.

What a face cream cannot do

It cannot change your skin colour, close a pore, remove a scar, or work in a week. Creams improve the appearance of texture, tone and hydration with consistent use over weeks. Anything promising more than that in Pakistan is either an unlisted active or a claim with nothing behind it.

The creams sold hardest into this search are the fairness and mix formulas, and they are the ones worth the most caution. An unlabelled cream that works in days is usually working because of a steroid, and steroid-thinned skin takes far longer to repair than the pigmentation it was bought for.

How long before you can judge one

Hydration and comfort change within days. Texture takes about four weeks. Tone takes eight to twelve. Judge a face cream on photographs in the same light rather than on how your skin feels at night, because comfort and change are not the same measurement.

What Elluvi sells, and what it does not

Two creams. The Hydrating Moisturiser is 120 ml at Rs. 1,249 — niacinamide 5%, hyaluronic acid 1%, ceramides — and is the daily one. Hydra Glow Cream is 50 ml at Rs. 1,449 with retinol 0.3%, niacinamide 5% and alpha arbutin 2%, and is night-only. There is no day cream with SPF, and no fairness cream.

If you already use a retinol serum, do not add the cream on top of it. That is two doses of the same active and the result is irritation people usually blame on the newer product.

FAQs

There is no single best one, because a day cream and a night cream do different jobs. For daily use in this climate, a lightweight lotion with humectants. For night, a richer cream carrying a stated active. Buy the daily one first.
Moisturisers in Pakistan

Two moisturisers, split by when you use them rather than by skin type. The Hydrating Moisturiser is the daily one, light enough for humidity and large enough at 120 ml to use on face and neck twice a day. Hydra Glow Cream is the night one, with retinol in it, and is not meant to be layered with another retinol product.
